about

Daemon: Color Computer is my side project with Ryan Geddes. He writes the lyrics in London, sends them to me in San Francisco, and I turn them into songs.

Ryan: Orissa is the name of a holy city in India, which I adapted into a girl’s name. Supposed to serve a couple purposes - hinting at spirituality and the idea of going to discover yourself.

The guy in this song took the girl for granted and never opened up emotionally to her. He was so closed down he didn’t even realize he loved her (or what love was) until she left.

lyrics

I never told you I was broken
That I’d never be the same
So many words were left unspoken
And now you’re on a plane

I’m always picking up the pieces
And putting them away
Somewhere I’ll never find them
In parallel array

Orissa I’m a mess and I need you to know
I didn’t love you till you told me you needed to go
Orissa I don’t know how to be anymore
I didn’t feel anything till you walked out the door

I stepped out into the rainstorm
Just to feel the world again
Just to help myself remember
The state that I am in

I found your necklace in the garden
Took it into town today
When I wrap my hand around it
Almost feels like yesterday

Orissa I’m a mess and I need you to know
I didn’t love you till you told me you needed to go
Orissa I don’t know how to be anymore
I didn’t feel anything till you walked out the door
