about

Ryan
- Wrote this one to have a sort of Sam Smith vibe (Take Me to Church)
- It’s supposed to be rhythmic but not anthem-like
- It’s a little dark but there are enough bright words in it to offset that I think

Daemon
- Sorry it didn't end up sounding anything like Sam Smith!
- Magnetic Fields was more of a starting point for me

lyrics

I come from a place of rain
Red rivers on a map of pain
Don’t touch me when the sun is new
Don’t tell me what I mean to you

Look out for the too close crow
Black feathers in a shadow show
Cross over like the old ones do
Don’t run in your dancing shoes

I want to be true
I know we all do
I want to be real
In the world with you

I want to go deep
I need something to keep
I want to chase my dreams
But I just can’t sleep
I just can’t sleep

I wish I could feel the light
Dark water in a stained glass night
Remember when you stopped the fight
Still waiting to hear you were right

I’m heading for the dust and mud
Run rabbit from the taste of blood
I made you out of nails and wood
I’m sinking like you said I would

I want to be true
I know we all do
I want to be real
In the world with you

I want to go deep
I need something to keep
I want to chase my dreams
But I just can’t sleep
I just can’t sleep
